Vol. 1 No. 05 (2025)This issue explores the theme “Dynamics of Governance, Development Conflicts, and Political Participation in the Context of Local Development” by examining development as a process that is not merely technocratic, but also deeply embedded in power relations, competing interests, and local political dynamics. The articles in this issue discuss various practices of development governance, including Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), collaborative governance, and public sector management, as well as development-related conflicts such as smelter projects and land compensation disputes.
In addition, this issue highlights the dynamics of local democracy through analyses of political participation and vote-buying practices in electoral processes. Overall, this issue aims to enrich scholarly discourse in the fields of government studies and public policy by providing empirical and contextual perspectives, while offering critical reflections for the formulation of more inclusive and equitable local development strategies.
