This research aims to describe the form of community participation in the election of the regent of Pasangkayu against empty boxes in Bambaira District, Pasangkayu Regency using the theory of community participation according to (Dwiningrum, 2011), which includes money participation, energy participation, thought participation, and decision-making participation. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive type, carried out in Bambaira District through interviews, observation and documentation of the Head of KPPS, KPPS members and the community as informants. The research results show that community participation has been seen in all four forms of participation. There are no obstacles to monetary participation, while energy participation and thought participation are not optimal because there are still people who are less active and the dissemination of political information is limited. In decision-making participation, the public shows a difference in attitude between using the right to vote as a form of democratic responsibility and not using the right to vote as a form of dissatisfaction with a single candidate. This research shows that public participation is influenced by the level of trust in the political process, political understanding, and perceptions of the quality of local democracy, so it is hoped that the research results can provide input for election organizers in increasing public participation in elections with a single candidate.
